A GAP HOLIDAY

Last Saturday, 13 December I was down at Wisma Atria to help the good folks of GAP spot the shopper wearing red, gold, or green. After almost an hour, we found our winner whose holiday shopping spree was paid for by GAP. You can tell from her big smile that she was super happy. Or was she happy coz she saw me? Either way, I think we made her day!

THE STARBUCKS STORY - TO YOU, FROM US

4th of December I had an extra boost of energy to get myself in the spirit of the holiday season with my favorite Starbucks coffee.

I was at Liat Towers with Elliott to help the good folks of Starbucks spread some Christmas cheer to all its patrons with a tall sized beverage on the house. How cool is that huh?

HALLOWEEN 2008

Hey guys!

I like Halloween. This year, to celebrate, I thought of dressing up as a medical intern and come to work with my scrubs. Shirt and pants.

However, my colleague Alvin Yee captured me in my scrub shirt a couple of weeks before Halloween. I usually wear it with a shirt and jeans. Check out what he did with my photo:

McScruffy. I heard George and Christina making up this nickname.

It was fun coming to work like this. Oh, and I did my version of trick or treatin’, where I gave chocolates to my officemates. Hahaha

Peace,

A DOSE OF NICE

So I was at the gala premiere of Highschool Musical 3: Senior Year last Sunday. Some of my friends said that I’m the last guy they’d expect to see in the cinema watching this Walt Disney flick.

I said, hey, this movie isn’t as bad as people expect it to be. In fact, I’d recommend it to anyone who’s looking for some dose of ‘nice’ in their life. You need it, trust me!

I grew up watching WWD - The Wonderful World of Disney. Films they make are always synonymous with promoting good values and learning to accept yourself.

Looking back, I’d say it was a breath of fresh air hosting the premiere.

Peace,
harry

BROWN BAGGED

Yo yo yiggady yo!

Harry’s back.

Was at Orchard Road with some friends last Saturday and the last thing I expected was to brown bag my head. I did. We all did.

A few guys distributed brown bags with eyeholes. When I saw it, KKK came to mind. And I’m like, you gotta be kidding me.
So we got curious and grabbed a few bags.

It was an ad campaign by this famous condom brand. The message was that nobody has to be embarassed to buy adult toys. No more disguises when you go to sex shops, no more nervous rushed purchases. You can now do it discreetly online.

I think this campaign was clever and successful to a certain degree. It brought out in the open a fear we all know- fear of being seen and getting caught patronizing adult shops.

And because it was obviously inspired by the infamous KKK head gear, people actually took notice. Some, saw it as good photo op! Like us hahaha.

What about you? Seen anything interesting on Orchard Road lately?

peace,
harry

BEND THE BULLET PLEASE

Hey Guys,

Been out of the power blogosphere for quite some time. I caught the preview of the flick Wanted and dang! That’s going straight to my list of favorite movies.

To rave and lust about Angelina Jolie would be, ya know, expected. (She’s HOOTTT).

Fire-and-curve-the-trajectory-of-the-shot without hitting the Fox that’s Angelina. Oh and make sure you do that in slowmo’!

I mean, WHAT? bend the bullet!

Yeah. Last time I was at the edge of my seat was when I caught Speed. The bus scene with Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock.

That’s the one!

Catch ya again next time!

peace,
harry

PLEASE NO FWDs!

Hi guys.

Like you, my day isn’t complete without checking my email.

Whatever good feelings you get from friends’ emails all just vanish when you realize, they don’t really say hello to you, all you get are forwarded messages.

Found this site where you can actually send a message – anonymously of course to your friends who love forwarding you messages.

A better, or should I say, a more polite option to ask them to stop this annoying habit.

stopforwarding.us. Check it out!

And since we’re talking about forwarded messages, what’s the most interesting you’ve received?

Peace!

MAY DAY!

May Day couldn’t have rolled out any weirder.

Newsguy Karan, who with the rest of the newsies, hand deliver the news stories to us DJs, comes in and says, he badly needs some good shut eye.

Wishes that a fairy comes and whisks him off to bedland.

A conversation about mythical creatures or the lack thereof here in Singapore ensues.

Karan leaves in utter amusement after I regaled him with a few stroies on mythical creatures in the Philippines. Google aswang, tikbalang, tiyanak, kapre, if you wanna check out a few of ‘em.

Then MCR/Sound Engineer Sean comes in later and tells me about a pixie dust that enables people to grow back some parts of the body.

The day comes full circle, Karan and his fairies, Sean with his pixie dust.

How was your May Day?

peace,

harry

COOK-IN’ AMERICAN IDOL

Man, this season’s American Idol continues to be a surprise. Carly Smithson got the boot. Not to say that she had the weakest vocals this week singing the Andrew Lloyd Webber song Superstar!

In fact she rocked it the same way she rocked almost all her performances. But American Idol is a popularity contest, relying on building up a fanbase to vote for you week after week.

That being said, almost everyone remaining in the top 5 - David Archuleta, Jason Castro, David Cook, Brooke White have built up strong fanbases. Syesha Mercado, despite being very talented, continues to be in the bottom 3.

So clearly, it’s not a case of who can sing, but a case of who has the biggest fanbase. However, David Cook is in a class all his own. By virtue of his amazing vocal talent, he has managed to stay in the competition. Safe to say, his fanbase is comprised of those who think this competiton should give the best singer the prize!

And who should win this season? David Cook. C’mon, WHAATT?!!

Ok, here’s the thing. Let’s say, you go in your favorite record shop. Whose album are u buying? Pick 3, then you’ll probably have your TOP 3 idols.

1. DAVID COOK Pop/Melodic Rock
2. JASON CASTRO Folk/Acoustic/Pop
3. SYESHA MERCADO Pop /Soul n Rnb
4. BROOK WHITE Pop Ballad
5. DAVID ARCHULETA Best of Disney/ Inspirational Songs/High School Musical

For now, we wait.

WAT A GWAAN!

Sean Kingston was my in-studio guest today . Frankly I didn’t know what to expect. But I knew it was gonna be a great interview. I mean, c’mon, he’s probably one of the hottest artists in the music biz now!

You might wonder what his favorite song is from his album. It’s “Take You There”!

A dream collaboration would be with Beyonce!

On his ipod is Akon. His fave Singaporean food..well…where to start? I dig his new song “There’s Nothin’!

He is 18, with a best selling album, a string of hits..ranks 2nd on Forbes’ list of the year’s hottest music stars! Not a bad place to be!
